Zankyou: Eine von Wabi-Sabi inspirierte Hochzeit

Let's turn the wheels of time for a moment here: it is the beginning of spring, 2021. I am in a moment in time, where I happen to come across inspiring artists and people with an open heart. This is a rare occasion that should be cherished!

The unexplainable longing of getting together swells, and so we create a picture in our mind of how the future could look like. There is a lot of talk about minimalism, going back to the basics, the rawness and beauty of imperfection - “Wabi Sabi” if you may, as the Japanese have so masterfully described it.

And so this styled shoot was born. I must however, mostly accredit it to the artist Rebekka Costa, whose conversations with me are always so nourishing, interesting and compelling. Her ideas shaped what this became, and it also inspired me to come up with a group of collaborating artists aligned under the same vision. Also Mrs. Marianne De Tomasi came with her own twist of floral arrangements of decorations, it was like witnessing my own wedding all over again and all these artists visions coming to life!

The beautiful blush dress is from Fairydress, an entrepeneur that I met a few years ago - her curated selection is one of the most modern and romantic dresses I know in Switzerland, plus she is a very generous and kind person. Thank you Bianca for being part of my crazy last-minute ideas once again :).

And of course, the lady whose work is just absolutely done to perfection and I am talking of course about Mayya Boppart, she is always a good time, goes the extra mile on all the work of her hands and I just really enjoy being around her. It is thanks to this profession that we met and I can only recommend her with a very warm heart - she really is one of the best ones out there!

The wedding bands are designed by Goldschmiede Schelling, under the artistic direction of Nicole Coniglio. For this set we chose a raw-edge gold cut with matte finish and a matching rose-quartz ring for the bride. I have a pretty good idea of what my 10-year anniversary gift should look like, that's all I have to say.

The stationery (wedding invite/menu) was designed by yours truly. My direction for this one was really contemporary and minimalist. Lots of attention to paper materials and how they felt in your hand. That's why I chose a matching raw-cut hand dyed silk for the name cards, to give a certain imperfect touch. The attention was on the dishes, not in the design.

And lastly but certainly not least, the cake-artwork from Mimis Cupcakes - I love how I sent her my first ideas and she did so much more than I asked. I truly think there is nothing “impossible” for Mimi, her artistic point of view is so valuable and I just find her skills admirable and beautiful!
